A Lebanese Cuisine Experience Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery welcomes Celebrity Chef, Julie Taboulie, for a special 1886 Reserve Room Lebanese Cuisine Experience.

Enjoy a gourmet Lebanese cuisine experience, featuring a four-course lunch with a perfectly paired flight of wines, live culinary demonstration, and springtime inspired dishes created by famous chef, television host, PBS personality and award-winning author JULIE TABOULIE!

Two seatings will be offered for this special spring celebration; eleven o’clock in the morning and two o’clock in the afternoon. An amazing afternoon with Celebrity Chef Julie Taboulie awaits you at Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery!

1886 Wine & Food Experience

Méthode Champenoise Experience Time: May 2019
Location: 1886 Reserve Room
Available Saturdays at 2 PM, and Sundays at 2 PM. May Weekends, and First Weekend of June

A behind-the-scenes look of our rich history of sparkling winemaking. The tour will begin with an explanation of our estate vineyards focusing on the classic Champagne grapes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. The tour continues underground to our historic cellar built in 1886. Here you will learn the process of méthode Champenoise including bottling, aging, and disgorgment while tasting through several examples of our sparkling wines. At the conclusion of the tour, a seated flight of wines are paired with the chef’s seasonal bites where you taste our remaining sparkling wines and still wines produced by Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Please arrive at our 1886 Reserve Tasting Room at least 5 minutes before the starting time of the event. Just south of the main winery and tasting rooms is the stone house named Chateau Frank. Once you pull into the driveway and park, walk towards the rear of the building and you will see stairs leading up to the 1886 Reserve Room. The event will feature some walking in our vineyards, so we suggest wearing suitable shoes.

Flowering in the Vineyard Experience Time: June 2019
Location: 1886 Reserve Room
Available Fridays at 2 PM, Saturdays at 11 AM and 2 PM, and Sundays at 2 PM.

Budbreak and flowering celebrates the new green beginning to the vintage. A wine educator will lead you through several vineyard sites where you will learn the innovative grafting technique that our founder brought to the Finger Lakes, the parts of the vine, what happens during budbreak, and why flowering is so important. At each vineyard site you will taste its respective wine. At the conclusion of the tour, a seated flight of wines are paired with the chef’s seasonal creative bites.

2017 Sauvignon Blanc: Beet dyed egg, charred leek, asparagus, dill, preserved lemon, Dijon emulsion.
2017 Muscat: Shaved rhubarb & roast fennel tart, mulberry reduction.
2018 Dry Rose of Blaufrankisch: Brioche, tarragon whipped ricotta, jamon serrano, green peas, sherry scented honey.
2016 Cabernet Franc: Stout cake, brandy soaked currants, caramel butter, smoke, chocolate, sea salt.

Barrel Series Experience Time: August 2019

Available Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 11 AM and 2 PM.

The tour begins at the Dr. Konstantin Frank winery where we head underground to our barrel cellar. Here you will learn the process of barrel production, the different types of oak and where they originate from, and alternatives to barrel aging with amphora. We will taste two wines, one unoaked and one oaked, to explore the differences between them, and taste current vintage wines aging in barrel. At the conclusion of the tour, a seated flight of wines are paired with the chef’s seasonal bites where you taste wines that have aged in barrel of varying levels of new oak and time.

Veraison & Harvest Experience Time: September 2019
Location: 1886 Reserve Room
Available Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 11 AM and 2 PM.

Undoubtedly the most beautiful time in the vineyard where the green grapes change to shades of yellow and red. The tour begins with a hands-on grape sampling exercise where we figure out the ripeness of a vineyard block. A wine educator explains the internal changes of a grape during veraison and considerations leading up to the decision to start harvesting. We will explain the difference of hand-picking versus machine-picking and why technology plays a major part. Depending on the harvest timeline, a demonstration of hand-sorting and pressing may be possible. At the conclusion of the tour, a seated flight of wines are paired with the chef’s seasonal creative bites.
