The History of the 1962 Room The 1962 Reserve Tasting Room takes its name from the year our winery was founded, in 1962. The site of the winery was important to Dr. Frank and it is often said that when he discovered the land on which the winery now stands, he bent down, tasted the dirt and said "perfect". All his passion was poured into the land and towards the creation of superior cool climate vinifera wines. When building a home on the property, ‘modest’ was enough. Real beauty was reserved for his fine wines.
In the early days, Dr. Frank’s home was very much a part of the visitor experience. He would often take visitors out on his porch to taste his wines where they would enjoy long conversations about the potential of vinifera in the Finger Lakes region. Our 1962 Reserve Room brings visitors back to what his home was originally meant to be – a haven for those with a deep passion for wine.
